About Dr Olav Tvedten

Expertise in Rheumatology

Dr Olav Tvedten is a qualified specialist rheumatologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
 
Having obtained his medical degree from the University of Oslo in Norway in 2013, Dr Tvedten moved to Australia where he completed Basic Physician Training and Rheumatology Speciality Training in NSW and ACT.

 

Dr Tvedten has active interests in all aspects of rheumatology including inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, gout, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.
 
Further qualifications were gained in rheumatology-specific ultrasound examination and ultrasound-guided injections which he uses to aid diagnosis and management for his patients.
 
Dr Tvedten has moved to Tamworth with his family and is committed to providing excellent medical care.

 

In addition to working in the Dowe Street Specialists rooms, he also does monthly general rheumatology and rheumatology ultrasound clinics at John Hunter Hospital and has an appointment with the Centre for Medical Professional Development with the Hunter New England Local Health District.

Accepting Referrals

Appointments can be made with a referral from a general practitioner or specialist. Referrals can be sent via Medical Objects, email, fax or post. Patients will be contacted with their appointment details.

Referrers can indicate in the referral if joint ultrasound and/or joint injections may be necessary.

Patients will be eligible for a Medicare rebate with a valid referral. This is a non bulk-billing practice. Payment is requested at the time of appointment.

 

It is suggested that patients bring a list of their current medications and any previous test results and reports.

 

Parking is available on the street (two hour parking) and in the Centrepoint Tamworth Car Park (one block away).

 

Any cancellations should be done at the earliest convenience (at least 24 hours prior to the appointment), so that the appointment can be offered to another patient.
